chisel me.

I found this video on HarvestMag's Facebook page, and I thought it was good. Long, but great.

What do you all think?

  1. Hi Niv,
Some people actually showed this skit for the adult Sabbath School one Sabbath. But I really don't agree with it at all. I think having a man pretend to be 'God' and knock all of the 'bad' things out of the other man is really not good at all. And the same people showed another one of these skits in church...and it was about the LORD's Prayer. And these people were SO blasphemous in their prayers to God, was QUITE awful really!

Now I really don't mean to be critical or anything, and I hope I haven't offened you, but this is really what I think about this.

    Your Sister,

  2. Hi Nivi,

Here are some things to think about:
Every story involves conflict which involves at least one bad character.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 says to "abstain from all appearance of evil."
It is impossible to take part in a play without getting involved with the appearance of evil or pretending to be God (which is blasphemy).
Paul did not use acting to further the work of the gospel (even though the theater was very popular in his day), rather he stated that "it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." 1 Corinthians 1:21.
Acting is not one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:28.
Actor comes from the Greek word hupokrites (remember how Jesus denounced the rulers of the Jews as hypocrites because they pretended to be good while they were really bad on the inside and were leading other people astray). Matthew 23.

These thoughts were gleaned from Perspectives of Life in Literature, page 202, Christian Light Literature Series.

I suggest you do a Bible study on the subject, asking for the Holy Spirit to guide you in your search. Also, ask yourself what you think Jesus would do.

    Your sister in Christ,

  3. The message of the video is really great... Feels weird to have a guy posing as God, but yeah... I liked it.

    1. At last, a positive comment! (there's a reason you are my best friend..... :)
I know, when I first heard that the guy said he was 'God', I was a little bit shocked, too, but then I listened to the point, and it was encouraging.
Thanks for watching... I was wondering if it took a long time to download it...? :)

    2. Not really... We didn't download it as such; just watched it online, but it didn't seem to take too long. Is that what you were asking?

  4. I'm sorry Nivi... If you were blessed and encouraged by the video, I'm glad. Maybe I should have sent my thoughts to you in an email, rather than posting it here... but then, you did ask for our thoughts...

Anyway, it has taken me awhile to decide what I believe when it comes to acting, and its not exactly easy to change beliefs and habits.

    1. Oh, no, don't worry. I didn't take any offence and you are right about me asking for your thoughts. Thanks for that. :)

      Blessings to you, too.

thanks for the thoughts!
